This app warns you before every jump scare in a horror movie

If you love horror movies but hate being scared half to death, Binge might be the app you didn’t know you needed. It is a new movie tracking app for iPhone that utilizes Apple’s Live Activities feature to alert you to jump scares before they occur.

Open the app when your movie starts, and your iPhone will display scary warnings directly on the lock screen ahead of frightening scenes. You can even adjust the settings to only flag the big, heart-stopping moments and ignore the smaller ones, if you are feeling brave.

Does it work reliably, though?

Binge doesn’t integrate with any streaming service. It has no way of knowing you pressed play, which means you have to manually start the movie tracking in the app once you start playing. Once you do that, the app works reliably well.

Going to grab popcorn or make a bathroom run? You’ll need to pause it manually, or the timing of the warnings will be off. Taking a break in movies reminds me of another movie utility that became popular back in the day.

It was called RunPee and provided the perfect timing to take a break in movies so you don’t miss any important scenes. The app is listed on the App Store and has a good rating, so you can give it a try next time you go to the movies.

What other features do you get with the app?

Binge is also making a play to become your all-in-one movie companion. The app provides cast and crew details, reviews, awards, runtimes, and a handy tracker showing which streaming platform currently has a title available.

Parents will love its dedicated section that pulls data from IMDb, flagging violence, profanity, sexual content, and drug use.

The app is free to download, but jump scare warnings are locked behind a paid subscription, which costs $1.99/month, $17.99/year, or a one-time lifetime unlock for $49.99, and is available for iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
